Description
7 and 9 Swan Street are a pair of cottages dating from the 17th century, with a refacing that occurred in the mid to late 19th century. The buildings are timber framed with whitewashed brick infill, and the front is also made of whitewashed brick. They have an old tiled roof and a brick ridge stack located at the rear. The cottages are arranged in a T-plan and stand two storeys tall with an attic, featuring a two-window range.
No. 7 has a mid to late 20th-century shop front that includes a half-glazed door, an overlight, and a rectangular bay, all adorned with glazing bars, wood pilasters, and a fascia. No. 9 has a similar shop front from the same period. The first floor and two roof dormers contain casement windows with glazing bars. At the rear, the timber framing is exposed, and there is a further part of the rear wing that appears to be an addition or rebuilding in whitewashed brick. The fenestration is irregular, and the interior has not been inspected.
