Description

A pair of cottages dated to the 17th and 18th centuries, with an addition to the rear dating to the early or mid-19th century. The cottages are a timber-framed construction, faced in English bond brick, with a roof of old tiles and brick end stacks. They are arranged in an L-shape and extend to a double depth. The cottages are one storey and attic, with a two-window front. A central 19th-century plank door is flanked by 19th-century casement windows with glazing bars. The ground floor openings are defined by segmental brick arches. 19th-century brick dormers light the attic space. The return side of the building features a reused ceiling beam incorporated into a wall. To the rear, No. 8 has an 18th-century gabled range, while No. 7 has an adjacent 19th-century gabled range. The interior of No. 7 reveals exposed ceiling beams and old floorboards, while the first floor displays eased raised crucks.
