Description
Cutlers Farmhouse is a 17th-century building, possibly dated 1677, located on Henley Road in Great Alne. It was formerly listed as Cottage Farm and has undergone partial refacing and alterations in the mid to late 19th century. The farmhouse is timber framed with square framing and colourwashed brick infill, and it has been partly refaced and underbuilt in colourwashed brick. The roof is covered with old tiles, and there is a brick stack at one end.
The building has a T-plan layout and consists of one storey and an attic, featuring a one-window range. There is a 19th-century flush four-panelled door located at the angle of the building, and a 19th-century canted oriel window on the right side. The underbuilt cross wing on the left retains jowled posts, 19th-century casements with glazing bars, and a segmental brick arch on the ground floor. An inscription carved in a beam on the right return side of the cross wing is mostly illegible but may date to 1677. The left return side displays exposed framing, while the right return side has been refaced and includes an external stack. The interior features exposed framing and ceiling beams, along with an open fireplace that has a chamfered bressumer.
