Description
Bays Cottage is a pair of houses dating from the mid to late 17th century. They are timber framed with lath and plaster infill, featuring a small amount of close studding on the ground floor. No. 14 has an old tile roof, while No. 12 has late 20th-century tiles, with brick stacks at the rear. The buildings have a two-unit plan, are two storeys high with an attic, and have a five-window range. The central entrances include a 20th-century door for No. 12 and 19th-century plank doors for No. 14 and the entrance to the passage at the rear. The windows have irregular placements, with 19th and 20th-century casements that include glazing bars. No. 12 features a single roof dormer, while No. 14 has two skylights. At the rear, there is a late 20th-century brick addition with twin gables across the entire facade. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to have exposed framing and ceiling beams.
