Description

A pair of houses dating from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, located on Bleachfield Street, Alcester. The houses are built of colourwashed brick with a brick dentil cornice, and have a tile roof punctuated by brick ridge stacks. They follow a double depth plan, rising to two storeys and an attic containing dormers. The houses present a two-window facade. Central entrances are situated on each side. A plank door leads to a rear passage, protected by a brick segmental arch. Number 8 has a four-panelled door within a moulded wooden surround, and boasts a Bow window with glazing bars, which was inserted in the early to mid-19th century. The first floor and dormers feature wood and iron casements with glazing bars. Number 10 has a 20th-century glazed door and casements, with an original lintel spanning the doorway and an adjacent window. The dormer on Number 10 has been rebuilt in brick. The first-floor windows retain brick segmental arches, whilst remnants of similar arches are visible on the ground floor. The rear of the houses is characterised by twin gables and irregular window placement. The interior was not inspected.
