Description

The Old School House is an early to mid-18th century house located on the west side of Featherbed Lane, Cherington. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with quoins, and has coped gables and a slate roof with stone end stacks. The building’s plan is based on three units. The front elevation has two storeys and a three-window range, featuring 20th-century cross casement windows with stone flat arches. A plank door with a stone flat arch is positioned centrally, with a 20th-century gabled porch in front of it. An 18th-century two-storey stone range is attached to the right, also with 20th-century casements and a blocked doorway with stone flat arches. A rear stair-turret range rises to attics. The interior includes chamfered spine beams.
