Description
The Anchorage is a house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with quoins and has coped gables. The roof is made of stone slate and features stone and brick end stacks. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys plus an attic high, with a three-window range of 20th-century three-light casements that have stone flat arches. The central entrance has a part-glazed panelled door with a moulded wood surround and a flat hood supported by consoles. There are two gabled dormers on the roof. At the rear, there is a one-storey range from the 18th century and a 20th-century brick range. Inside, there is one ovolo-moulded spine beam, while others are chamfered with ogee stops. The interior also features an open fireplace with a chamfered timber bressumer and a through-purlin roof. A part of the original spiral staircase remains in the attic.
