Milepost. c1832. Painted cast-iron. Cast by W Glover and Sons of Warwick. Triangular section: 2 faces with segmental-headed chamfered top. Raised lettering reads to top: KINETON/ LONDON/ 86; to left: WARWICK/ 10/ STRATFORD/ ON-AVON/ 9; to right: BANBURY/ 13. Oval panel to each face recording manufacturer. HISTORY: the Upton, Kineton and Wellesbourne Turnpike was set up by an Act of Parliament of 1770; the road was substantially repaired in the early 1830s, when this milepost was most likely erected; it appears on the 1834 one-inch OS map.
