GV II Milepost cast c1828, of painted cast iron; triangular in section with inclined head and segmental-arched, raised back plate. Painted white with raised lettering and details in brick red. At the base is the legend, left: 'THORNEWILL'; right: 'BURTON'. Inscription reads: Left: TUTBURY 3 1/2 MILE Right: BURTON 1 MILE Top: HORNINGLOW PARISH Top Flange: LONDON (radially) 126 MILES

HISTORY: The milepost was erected by the Ashby de la Zouch to Tutbury Turnpike Trust. It was cast in Burton upon Trent c1828.
