Milepost, cast c1828, of painted cast iron. Hollow cast iron triangular with a flat projecting upper flange with curved edge. Painted white with raised lettering and details in black. The black painted base bears the legend Left: 'THORNEWILL'; Right: 'BURTON'. Inscription reads: Left: TUTBURY 1/2 MILE Right:BURTON 4 MILES Top: TUTBURY PARISH Top Flange: LONDON (radially) 129 MILES

HISTORY: The milepost was erected by the Ashby de la Zouch to Tutbury Turnpike Trust. It was cast in Burton upon Trent c1828.
