Description

The Thatched Cottage is a late 17th century or early 18th century building that has been altered and added to in the 20th century. Originally two houses, it is now a single residence. The exterior is constructed from coursed dressed blue lias limestone with a roughcast front, topped by a steeply pitched thatched roof featuring a half-hipped end and a rendered brick end stack, as well as a cross-axial stack. The building is arranged in an L-plan and has two storeys.

The front facade has a symmetrical composition with a three-plus-one window range. The entrance features a doorcase with a bracketed canopy above a six-panel door, two of which are glazed. The flanking windows have timber lintels and consist of three-light small-paned casements, while the first floor has similar windows with two-light small-paned casements. The single-window range includes a wide 20th-century garage entrance, with a first-floor window above that has a timber lintel and a three-light small-paned casement.

On the right return, there is a half-hipped rear wing with exposed stone and varied window styles, including plaster surrounds to the 20th-century casements. There is also a brick addition at the end, and the rear of the building features a single-storey wing along with a 20th-century two-storey flat-roofed addition. The interior has not been inspected.
