Description
Church Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century, with an extension added to the left in the early 18th century. It is constructed of uncoursed limestone rubble and features a gabled old tile roof with a brick ridge stack. The building has an L-plan layout with a rear left wing and consists of one storey and an attic, presenting a six-window range.
The windows include 18th-century two-light leaded casements and 20th-century casements, with gabled 20th-century dormers. There is a 19th-century door on the left side wall, which has a concrete lintel. The rear wing, also one storey and attic, has timber lintels over its two- and three-light leaded casements, along with a two-light leaded casement in the dormer. A 20th-century garage is located at the rear.
Inside, the room in the rear left features 18th-century panelled shutters, a chamfered and stopped beam, and a bressumer over the open fireplace. There are also two 17th-century plank doors with wooden latches, one of which leads to a 17th-century quarter-turn staircase. The building is included for its group value.
