Description
Four Gates Cottage is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is situated on the south side of the road between Kingston Bagpuiuze and Southmoor, near Faringdon. The exterior is roughcast and colourwashed, with a gabled thatched roof and brick end stacks. The house has a symmetrical two-unit plan and a two-storey, symmetrical two-window front. A 20th-century door and porch have been added. It has early 19th-century sash windows. A rear outshut was added in the early 19th century, constructed of limestone rubble with brick dressings and an early 19th-century plank door. The interior features cased beams and a 19th-century quarter-turn staircase. The roof was not inspected.
