Description
Martins is a house that dates from the late 17th century, with an extension added in the early to mid-18th century. The original 17th-century section is constructed from colourwashed limestone rubble and features a gabled thatch roof, with a stone left end stack finished in brick and a brick right end stack. The building has one storey and an attic, with a three-window range that includes timber lintels and segmental brick arches over a blocked door, as well as three two-light and three three-light leaded casements. There are 19th-century dormer casements with a tile pentice beneath. To the right, there are 18th-century outshuts. An early 19th-century brick porch is located to the left of the front and connects to the early to mid-18th-century wing, which is made of limestone rubble with a chequer brick left side wall, a hipped stone slate roof, and a brick end stack. The left side wall of this wing is two storeys high and has a two-window range that features a blocked doorway and three-light flanking two-light leaded casements above a raised storey band. Inside, there is a chamfered and stopped beam and quarter-turn stairs located at the rear of the chimney stack.
