Description
Vine Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with restorations and additions made in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed blue lias rubble with a timber-framed first floor featuring plaster infill. The roof is half-hipped and thatched, with a brick stack at one end. The building has a three-unit plan, with the gable facing the front to the left, and includes 20th-century additions to the right end and a large 20th-century cross wing to the left end.
The exterior is two storeys high and features a three-window range. The former entrance has been converted into a window, flanked by other windows, all set under a hipped thatch pentice. These windows have casements, and there is a small window at the right end. To the right return, there is a small 20th-century flat-roofed single-storey bay with wide eaves and a window. The first floor has similar casement windows. The entrance is located in the 20th-century wing to the left.
On the right gable, there is a late 19th-century single-storey gabled wing with leaded lights, flanked by 20th-century stone wings, and the first floor is finished in pebbledash. The interior has not been inspected.
