Description

Forge House is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. It is constructed of regularly coursed ironstone and features a concrete tile roof, with a brick stack on the left end. The house has a three-unit plan and is two storeys high with an attic, presenting a two-window range.

The entrance is located in a single-storey range that projects forward on the left side and includes an old plank door along with a late 20th-century conservatory porch. The left return side has a casement window in a blocked doorway and a later casement window. The right return side features late 20th-century glazing. The main range has a contemporary glazed door, while a small 19th-century canted bay and a two-light casement window on the right have horizontal glazing bars. On the first floor, there is a three-light leaded casement window on the left and a large central two-light casement with glazing bars. The openings throughout the house have painted wood lintels, and there are three roof dormers, each with two-light leaded casements.

At the rear, there is a curved bread-oven projection on the right, along with old two and three-light casement windows, some of which are leaded. Inside, the house features an open fireplace with a bressumer and a bread-oven, as well as a straight flight staircase with winders. There have been late 20th-century alterations to the interior.
