Description

The Old Post Office is a cottage that dates from the late 18th century and was formerly two separate buildings as well as a post office. It is located on the east side of Main Street in Farthingborough. The structure is built of regularly coursed limestone, with Flemish garden bond red brick at the rear. It has a tiled roof and brick stacks at each end. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a three-window range.

The entrance features a flush six-panelled door situated between the first and second bays, topped with a tiled hood supported by brackets. The ground floor includes original lead-latticed casements with three lights and four lights to the right. The second bay has a 19th-century two-light casement with glazing bars. At the rear, there are two plank doors and leaded casements with two and three lights. Inside, the property is noted for its six-panelled doors.
