Description
Church Lane Cottage is a cottage dating from the early to mid-18th century, with alterations made in the mid-20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone rubble and features a concrete tile roof with a stone ridge stack. The cottage has a three-unit plan and consists of one storey and an attic, presenting a three-window range. There is a blocked doorway between the first and second bays, which has a wooden lintel. The fenestration is irregular, with small leaded casements of two lights on the left and three lights on the right, along with a larger three-light leaded casement and a 20th-century casement. The painted wood lintels add to the character of the building. The roof dormers have concrete tile-hung gables, featuring 20th-century two-light casements and a 19th-century casement on the left. A 19th-century brick lean-to is located on the right side of the cottage. The entrance is on the right return side, featuring a 20th-century plank door within an old, simply-moulded wood frame, with a three-light leaded casement above. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is included for its group value.
