Description
Chestnut Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century, with alterations in the late 20th century. It is constructed of regular coursed ironstone and has a tile roof with brick ridge and end stacks. The house follows a three-unit plan and is two storeys and an attic, with a three-window front. A single-storey addition in the late 20th century sits between the first and second bays and has a casement window. A door is located on the right return side. The lean-to roof extends to the right, creating an open porch over the central window. The ground floor has three-light stone-mullioned windows with hood moulds, and a horizontally-set oval window is located between the second and third bays, above which is a small square window. The first floor has 19th-century two-light casements with horizontal glazing bars and wood lintels. A stone-mullioned window and casements are also present on the rear elevation. Three hipped roof dormers light the attic space. The interior has not been inspected.
