Description
Pitt's Urn is a neoclassical urn and pedestal located on the south side of Tysoe Road in Radway. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and is made of limestone. The pedestal consists of three blocks. The large urn features carved and moulded details, including handles, although one handle is largely missing. The bottom section of the urn is fluted, and there are raised moulded inscription panels on both the front and rear. The front inscription is illegible, while the rear panel is inscribed with "Q(?) WLIIOM CHATHAM." The urn has a flared neck adorned with running scroll ornamentation and a lid with a finial, though it is incomplete. This urn is said to commemorate the friendship between Sanderson Miller and William Pitt and is included for its group value.
