Description

The building is a threshing barn and shelter shed range, now converted into a house, dating from the early 18th century with late 20th-century alterations. It features a timber frame with brick infill and weatherboarding, set on a blue lias rubble plinth that has largely been rebuilt in brick, and has gabled tile roofs. The structure is arranged in an L-plan, with the shed attached to the north end of the barn projecting east.

The exterior of the 3-bay barn includes a central threshing floor with opposing entrances, which have been fitted with late 20th-century glazed infill and doors. The framing consists of three vertical panels, with brick infill in the lowest panels and weatherboarding in the upper panels.

Inside, the cross frames are supported by angle braces, jowled posts, and trusses that include tie beams and queen struts, with V-struts above the collar. The ridge piece and trenched purlins retain some original wind braces, and the threshing floor is flagged with blue lias. The lower 7-bay shelter shed range adjoins the barn; it was originally open to the yard but has been infilled with late 20th-century glazing between the posts, with brickwork on the gable end and the outer return.
