Description
Buckley Green Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse, with a 18th or early 19th-century cross-wing. The construction is timber-frame and brick, largely rendered and painted, with some exposed timbering to the rear. It has gabled tile roofs and a brick cross-axial stack with diagonal shafts. The building originally comprised two units, with the cross-wing positioned to the left.
The exterior is two storeys and originally had a two-window range. A top dentilled brick cornice is present. The entrance, located to the left of centre, features a doorcase with pilasters and an open pediment, above a 20th-century half-glazed door that has an overlight. A segmental-headed, three-light transomed casement is located on the ground floor to the left, with other ground-floor windows featuring three-light casements. First-floor windows are similar, with iron opening casements. The taller wing has a segmental-headed window with a three-light transomed casement on both floors, and to the attic. All windows have leaded glazing. The main range has been substantially rebuilt in brick.
The left return of the wing also displays a top dentilled cornice with segmental-headed windows; a three-light casement is on the left, and three-light transomed casements are on the right, with a cross-axial stack. A single-storey service wing is attached to the left end.
The rear elevation shows exposed timber-framing to the left, with square framing, and include two small ground-floor windows, a 40-light first-floor window, and a three-light attic window with a fire mark reading "FARMERS" above, along with a glazed door and pentice.
The wing to the return of the cross-wing on the right has a segmental-headed entrance with a three-light leaded casement to the right, a three-light small-paned casement above, and two 20th-century dormers. The right return displays an exposed roof truss and a 20th-century single-storey gabled addition.
The interior is documented to contain chamfered and stop-chamfered spine beams; an open fireplace with a bressumer; a restored late 18th-century staircase; and a flagged floor.
