Description

The Corn Mill and Mill House, now used as offices, is a building that dates from the 18th century for the house and the mid to late 19th century for the mill. It is constructed of brick with 20th-century rendering facing the street and features tiled roofs. The building has a gable facing the street, which is to the right.

The exterior consists of two storeys with an attic and a six-window range that includes two gabled cross-wings. There are six giant segmental-headed recesses and top cornices. The segmental-headed windows have fixed small-paned iron glazing, with four windows on the ground floor showing signs of a blocked entrance to the right of the centre. There are also four 20th-century skylights. The right cross-gable features a segmental-headed window with a 10/10 horned sash on each floor, while the end cross-gable has a blocked segmental-headed window on both the ground and first floors, along with a two-light small-paned casement in the gable.

The left side of the building returns to the street and has segmental-headed windows with fixed glazing on a low rear wing. The three-window rear range displays a top modillioned brick cornice, a later large hipped porch, and windows with sills, as well as stucco wedge lintels with key blocks over 10/10 horned sashes. The central first-floor window is reduced and features two small lights.

The building holds significant streetscape value, contributing to the view at the north end of High Street.
