Description

Glebe Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located on the north side of Main Street, Exhall. The cottage is timber framed with colour-washed brick infill, with the left section being colour-washed roughcast and containing stone quoins. It has a late 20th-century tile roof. A substantial external lias stack is flush with the rear wall, featuring two diagonally-set square shafts of old brick to its right end. An external roughcast stack with similar shafts, likely dating to the 19th century, is positioned at the left end. The cottage originally comprised two units. It has one storey and an attic, with three dormers. An entrance, likely an alteration, is located in the right end of the cottage adjacent to the stack, featuring a late 20th-century door and porch. One window is a 19th-century casement; all other windows are 20th-century replacements. Exposed timber framing is visible at the rear. Inside, there is some exposed framing and an open fireplace.
