Description

A 17th-century cottage, located in Great Witley. The building is timber-framed with lath-and-plaster and painted brick infill, with brick at the rear and the right gable end. The roof is tiled, and there are brick stacks, including a large stack with a detached brick shaft, originally external, and a later stack at the right gable end. The cottage is a straight range of two framed bays with a later lean-to addition to the left gable end, containing the large stack. It is a single-storey building with an attic, featuring two 2-light metal casement windows on the ground floor, one on either side of a later porch. There are two dormers in the roof. The timber framing is largely complete, exhibiting three panels from sill to wall-plate, with a diagonal brace from the sill to the corner post on the left side and an upper angle brace from the post to the wall-plate on the right side.
