Description

The Grange is a cottage that was formerly two separate cottages, dating from the 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered brick infill, topped with a late 20th-century tiled roof. The building features a lias and brick external stack on the right end and a large lias stack with a fire window and brick shaft on the left end. Originally, each cottage had two units, but they have now been opened up into a single space. The structure has one storey and an attic, with four dormers.

The entrance next to the right stack has a late 20th-century door and porch, while the left entrance has had a window inserted, although the tile hood remains. The fenestration is irregular and dates from the late 20th century. There is a low projection with a late 20th-century tiled roof over a well, which is now open to the room behind; access to this well was previously from the exterior.

Inside, there are two open fireplaces with chamfered bressumers, one of which includes a bread oven in the room on the left, while the fireplace in the room on the right is partly blocked. Some of the framing is exposed, and there are also some 19th-century casements now located inside. A late 20th-century single-storey addition has been made to the right, along with a large addition to the rear.
