SP35SW B 4086, Pittern Hill 1901-1/13/139 (North East side) Former windmill approximately 50 metres north-west of Windmill Farmhouse

Former windmill. C18 with later alterations and C20 restoration. Dressed limestone in wide and narrow courses; coursed rubble and brick repairs; sheet-metal roof with ball finial. EXTERIOR: 4-storey round tower with entasis on restored platform; conical roof. Plat band over part of ground floor. Tall elliptical-headed opening to south-west has brick infill of 2 phases; entrance to right has timber lintel over wide-boarded door; similar entrance to opposite side. Small narrow windows with stone lintels, some blocked, some with small-paned metal glazing. INTERIOR: altered in late C20; no remaining machinery.
