Description
The former windmill, located approximately 50 metres north-west of Windmill Farmhouse in Kineton, dates back to the 18th century and has undergone later alterations and a restoration in the 20th century. It is constructed from dressed limestone in both wide and narrow courses, with some coursed rubble and brick repairs, and features a sheet-metal roof topped with a ball finial.
The exterior consists of a four-storey round tower that has a slight curve, known as entasis, and is set on a restored platform with a conical roof. There is a plat band that runs over part of the ground floor. The south-west side has a tall elliptical-headed opening that has been infilled with brick in two phases. To the right of this opening is an entrance with a timber lintel above a wide-boarded door, and there is a similar entrance on the opposite side. The tower also has small narrow windows with stone lintels; some of these are blocked, while others have small-paned metal glazing.
The interior was altered in the late 20th century, and there is no remaining machinery.
