Description
This is a windmill tower built in the late 18th century to early 19th century. The walls are made of flint measuring 650mm thick, with brick lacing in three and four courses and some areas rendered. The tower has a truncated conical shape and originally had four floors, which have now been removed. There are opposing doors on the north and south sides, and each floor has two windows set diagonally above the ground floor. The structure features a timber kerb.
Inside, the interior has been gutted, but there are remnants of a cast iron octagonal windshaft with canisters and a tail bearing, a six-armed cross for the fantail, a chair for the head brass, and various shackles. Additionally, there is a runner and the base of a pair of French burrs, along with decayed remains of timber shears. It is noted that the machinery was reportedly moved to this site from Middle Wallop in Hampshire.
