Description

Daffodil Cottage is a pair of houses, now combined into one, dating to the 17th century, with later alterations made in the 20th century. The right-hand side of the building was originally timber-framed and has since been refronted with painted brick. The left-hand side is constructed of coursed blue lias stone, faced with red brick, and both sections are covered by gabled thatched roofs with brick stacks. The building is arranged in an L-shape.

The side street elevation is single-storey with an attic, and features a four-window arrangement. A recessed entrance, approximately central, has a 20th-century door. To the right are two segmental-headed windows with three-light 20th-century casements. A similar window is positioned to the left. The attic incorporates three eyebrow dormers. The gabled end on the left has a three-light casement.

The return elevation facing the street shows a high rubble plinth and is divided into a two-window range, with a large external end stack featuring tile offsets and a small light. The ground floor has segmental-headed windows with three-light leaded casements, while the first floor is punctuated by an eyebrow dormer to the left, housing a three-light casement with small panes. A painted wooden board displaying the words "ANCIENT LIGHTS" references legal rights. The interior was not inspected during the listing process.
