Description
Bridges Cottage is a house located on Church Street in Welford-on-Avon, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The building consists of two sections, with later alterations. It is constructed of brick laid in Flemish bond and features a steeply pitched tile roof with a brick stack at the rear left end and an end stack. The house has a three-unit plan, with the left unit being of a different build.
The exterior is single-storey plus attic and has a three-window range. The left unit has a rubble plinth and an exposed wall plate, while the rest of the elevation is topped with a modillioned brick cornice. The entrance is located in a 20th-century porch to the right of the center and features a four-fielded-panel outer door. The ground floor includes segmental-headed windows: the left window has three-light pegged casements with leaded glazing and an iron opening casement, the center window is large with small-paned glazing, and the right window has a two-light leaded casement. The attic contains three gabled dormers, each with two-light leaded casements. The right return has a projecting stack, and there is a rear outshut. The left return adjoins Baskerville Cottage. The interior has not been inspected.
