Description
The lych gate and churchyard wall, including a postbox, serve the Church of St Peter in Welford-on-Avon. The date of the structures is uncertain, but they are likely from the 17th century. The lych gate is a reproduction from around 1970 of a 15th-century original. It features coursed rubble with ashlar, and a timber frame topped with a tiled roof. The lych gate has two unequal bays and is an open timber structure resting on a rubble plinth, with cusped braces and a gabled roof. It includes paired and single slatted timber gates. The churchyard wall extends approximately 30 meters to the west from the lych gate and about 80 meters to the east, following the line of Church Lane around to the north side of the church, and incorporates a small north gate with gabled coping. There is a wall postbox with the monogram "V R" located at the corner of Church Lane. The churchyard wall itself was not previously listed.
