Description

Weston Close is a house located in Welford-on-Avon, originally built in the 17th century, with alterations from the 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as significant additions from the late 20th century. The structure features some timber framing set on a high brick plinth, with painted plaster or brick infill, and a brick section at the right end. It has a steeply pitched tile roof with a brick stack positioned along the cross-axis.

The house has a two-unit plan, with an additional one-unit brick section that projects forward to the right. It is a single storey plus attic and has a four-window range. The right end displays a dentiled brick cornice. The central two-storey bay is topped with a hipped roof and features pegged and leaded casements arranged in a 1:3:1-light pattern, with iron opening casements on each floor. To the left, there is a large single-storey hipped bay that contains a six-light leaded casement. Above, there are two gabled dormers, each with two-light leaded casements.

To the right of the two-storey bay, a lean-to projection includes a small light at the right end and to the left, remnants of a lateral stack are visible, topped by a late 20th-century gabled dormer with a three-light leaded casement. The entrance on the right return has a canopy, while the bay window to the left is covered by a hipped roof and features 1:3:1-light leaded glazing.

To the left of the main structure, there is a late 20th-century rendered brick addition that is two storeys high with a three-window range, featuring a steeply pitched tile roof and brick end stacks. Additionally, there is a later single-storey section with an attic and a three-window range at the left end. The interior has not been inspected.
