Description

Numbers 2 (Bridge House) and 4 are a pair of houses, likely dating from the 17th century, although rebuilt in the mid to late 19th century. The construction is of coursed limestone rubble, rendered on the right-hand side and boarded on the left. The roof is slate-covered. The building is two storeys and has an attic. A large gable is present on the right-hand side, featuring a two-light casement window. A 19th-century gabled eaves dormer is located on the left, with slate-hung sides, decorative bargeboards, and three-light wooden casements. A large central brick ridge stack and a 19th-century brick ridge stack are positioned off-centre to the left. The front elevation has four windows; the ground floor on the left has two two-light wooden casements with segmental heads, while the right has three-light casements with a transom on both the ground and first floors. Six flush-panelled doors, with the top two panels glazed, are located between the first and second, and third and fourth windows from the left; the left-hand door has a bracketed hood. Two large 19th-century boarded carriageway doors are situated on the left-hand side.
