Description
The Old Post Office is a 17th-century cottage located on Brockhurst Road in Monks Kirby. It features a timber frame with whitewashed brick infill, while the left side has been rebuilt in whitewashed brick. The cottage has a thatched roof with brick stacks at the left end and ridge. It has a three-unit plan and is one storey high with an attic, displaying a two-window range. A 20th-century plank door is situated between the first and second bays. The ground floor includes three cross-glazed three-light casements, while the first and second bays feature raked half-dormers and large cross-glazed two-light casements. The right side of the building has brick infill. Inside, the cottage is noted for its exposed beams.
