Description
The building comprises two cottages, Honeysuckle Cottage and Kingsley Cottage, located in Monks Kirby. The left-hand portion of Kingsley Cottage likely dates to the 15th or 16th century, undergoing alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features cruck construction, with a rendered front incorporating 20th-century sham framing and a late 20th-century tile roof. The cottage has a single-unit plan and one storey with an attic, displaying a single-window range. The ground floor windows are 20th-century one-light and three-light casements. A swept dormer contains a 19th-century three-light casement with glazing bars. The left return side reveals exposed cruck blades. The rear of the cottage has been altered, and the interior showcases exposed beams and an altered open fireplace. The right-hand portion of Kingsley Cottage and Honeysuckle Cottage represents a 19th-century range, constructed of brick with 20th-century rendering and sham framing to the front, and an end stack. It has a concrete tile roof. Each unit has a one-unit plan, two storeys, and two bays. Kingsley Cottage features a central, 20th-century part-glazed door sheltered by a slate canopy. Ground floor windows are 20th-century three-light casements, while a first-floor window on the left is a 19th-century two-light casement with glazing bars.
