Description
Four Winds is a semi-detached cottage located on Coventry Road in Monks Kirby. It dates back to the 17th century, with a 19th-century lean-to addition on the right side. The cottage is timber-framed with plastered infill, while the right end has been rebuilt in whitewashed brick. The roof is made of corrugated iron, with a brick stack at the right end, and the addition features a slate roof.
The cottage has a two-unit plan and consists of one storey with two attics, presenting a two-window range. The lean-to addition includes a 20th-century door. The windows are primarily two-light casements with glazing bars, and the raked dormers feature cross-glazed two-light casements. The right return side has 19th-century casements with two and three lights. The rear left part of the cottage has been rebuilt, while the right part is underbuilt in whitewashed brick. Inside, there is a notable run-out chamfered beam.
