Description

Primrose Cottage is a semi-detached cottage dating back to the 17th century, with an 18th-century extension to the east and a 20th-century extension to the rear. The construction incorporates timber framing with brick nogging and wattle and daub panels, along with cob and some rendered brick. The roof is thatched, and there are brick stacks. The cottage is single-storey with an attic, and features two windows. The front facade includes a planked door, a single window, and a three-light casement window to the right, and two two-light casement windows to the left. Two eyebrow dormers each contain a two-light casement. The right return side features a planked door and a two-light casement window to the attic. The rear has a flat-roofed extension to the ground floor, and two eyebrow dormers. Inside, there are timber-framed partitions with wattle and daub panels, and two 19th-century staircases which were inserted when the cottage was subdivided. The cottage was undergoing renovation at the time of a survey in November 1984.
