Description
27 and 29 Main Street is a house located in Stretton Under Fosse, dating from the early 17th century, with some parts possibly rebuilt. It features a timber-framed structure with plaster or brick infill and rendered walls that display sham framing. The roof is covered with old tiles and has brick stacks at the ridges and ends. The main range of the house includes cross-wings and stands two storeys high with a three-window range. The ground storey has two 19th-century panelled doors and 19th-century two and three-light casement windows. To the left, there is a 19th-century two-light casement, and the central dormers feature one three-light casement. The building has a plinth and imitation timber-framing, with a 19th-century extension added to the right wing at the rear. Inside, there are some original chamfered beams on the ground storey, which have plain and broach stops, and it is said to retain its original roof timbers.
