Description

Malt Kiln Farmhouse is an early 18th-century timber-framed farmhouse. It has been rendered externally and has an old slate roof and brick stacks to the ridge. The farmhouse is two storeys high with a three-window range on the left side. A 18th-century plank front door is situated to the right, set within a moulded wooden surround, with a pentice above. A 19th-century part-glazed door sits within a timber porch to the left. Two 20th-century bow windows are located on the ground storey of the main range, alongside a 20th-century casement window to a wing that returns to the right. 20th-century casement windows are also present on the first storey. A plinth runs along the base. The interior features heavily moulded beams to the ground storey and an open fireplace with reset 17th-century panelling. There are also 18th-century doors and a 18th-century cupboard. It is believed that the original roof timbers are still present.
