Description

Morgans Bridge is a bridge that carries the towpath across the abandoned Brinklow Arm of the Oxford Canal. It was built between 1831 and 1834, with some minor alterations in the 20th century. The bridge features a single span with a cambered deck made of prefabricated cast-iron plates. Its openwork parapet consists of moulded cast-iron railings arranged in a regular, elongated diamond pattern. The bridge is supported by solid brick abutments and wing walls, which have brick copings. It was constructed as part of improvements to the Oxford Canal, with William Cubitt serving as the consulting engineer.
