Description

This is a house, now divided into three cottages at 31, 33, and 35 The Crescent, Brinklow. The core of the building dates back to the 16th century, with alterations made in later periods. It is timber-framed, incorporating brick and plaster infill. The roofs are tiled; No.31 has a relatively modern tile roof, while Nos.33 and 35 retain an older tile roof. A large brick stack sits centrally along the ridge of the roof. The building is two storeys high, with a four-window front. The doors are 20th century replacements. No.31 has 20th-century casement windows, while Nos.33 and 35 have 19th-century casements. The first storey of No.31 exhibits exposed close studding, and sections of timber from a jettied cross-wing are visible. The first storey of No.33 and the jetty of No.35 are plastered, with the latter featuring a 19th-century moulded bargeboard. A 19th-century drainpipe and rainwater head are situated between Nos.33 and 35. The left-hand cross-wing of the original house (No.31) has been extended to the rear. The interior is reported to retain original timberwork.
