Description
Croft Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century. It has a timber-framed structure that is rendered, topped with a thatched roof. The building features an internal chimney stack with a plain red brick shaft. It is one storey high with attics and includes two eyebrow dormers that have 2-light casement windows. On the ground floor, there are two 2-light casement windows and one 3-light casement window, all fitted with mid 20th century diamond-leaded panes. The entrance is marked by an early 20th century plank door, which has applied pilaster strips and ornate ironwork, located at the left end of the house. To the left, there is a single-storey lean-to, and at the rear, there is a 20th century extension. Inside, the layout is a plain 3-cell arrangement in four bays with exposed timbers. The frame lacks a middle rail, features a 2-inch chamfer on the main beam, and has joists set flat. The tie-beam is cut on the upper floor, where the upper rooms are ceiled off below collar level, leaving only the rafters visible.
