Description
Pailton Hall is a house dating from the 17th century. It features a timber-frame structure with plaster and brick infill, and is rendered with plaster. The roof is covered with old tiles and has renewed brick ridge stacks. The building is two storeys plus an attic and has a three-window range. The 20th-century glazed door, which includes a fanlight above, is set within a 19th-century Doric porch that has an entablature. To the right is a 19th-century plank door. The windows on the ground and first storeys are 19th-century casements with two and three lights. The main range has two hipped dormers on the roof, which feature leaded casements. There is a 19th-century two-light casement attic window in the gable of the crosswing, which oversails at the first and attic storeys. The square panel framing of the first storey is exposed and includes some decorative bracing. The plinth is rendered, and there is a carved 19th-century barge board on the main range. Two 19th-century rainwater heads are located at the centre. The crosswing extends to the rear and has a large brick stack behind it, along with an 18th-century brick extension alongside. Inside, the house has some beams with moulded chamfers and ogee stops, and a 18th-century staircase in the lobby with three turned balusters per tread.
