Description

House, now two dwellings. Dated 1680, with later alterations. The building is timber-framed with brick infill, with No. 5 having largely lost its original timber frame. The roof is slate, with a steeper pitch to No. 5, and has brick ridge and end stacks. The plan is of three units. The building is one storey with an attic, and has a three-window range. No. 7 has a C18 plank door within a moulded wood architrave, while No. 5 has a C20 door. All windows, including dormers, have late C20 casements. A moulded wood surround to the right casement is inscribed “S16M80H”. A mid-C19 extension exists at the rear of No. 5. Inside the former parlour on the right-hand side are stop-chamfered beams and joists. A through-passage separates this room from two rooms to the left, which have plain beams. The roof structure comprises three bays, with trenched purlins, raking queen struts to the collars, and crossed apexes. A C20 part-glazed door with a plain wood surround is on the left. C19 three-light casements are present on the ground storey and in the right-hand dormer, alongside a C20 casement in the left-hand dormer. The interior of the other dwelling was not inspected.
