Description
Three Gables is a cottage, originally two separate cottages, dating from the 17th century. It is timber framed with whitewashed brick infill and features an old tile roof with a brick ridge and internal stacks. The building is L-shaped, with one storey and an attic, and has a two-window range. The entrance is on the left and includes a 20th-century door with a wooden lintel. The windows are arranged irregularly, featuring 19th and 20th-century casements, with three windows on the ground floor—one of which replaces a former door—and two dormers. There is a stack located in the right corner, and the right end wall has been rebuilt in brick. The left end wall displays jowled posts, while the rear and rear wing have exposed framing. The rear features swept dormers, and the wing has a half-hipped roof. Inside, the cottage has exposed framing throughout and an altered open fireplace. There is also a mid-20th-century single-storey addition on the left.
