Description

This is an early 17th-century timber-framed house located on Coventry Road in Brinklow. The original timber frame has been partly filled in with brick and later clad in brick. The roof is covered in old tiles, with a brick stack at one end and a large external stack to the right, constructed in English bond with sandstone and brick dressings and offsets. The house has one storey plus an attic, originally with a two-window front. A 20th-century plank door is set within a gabled porch. A 19th-century three-light casement window is to the left of the door, with a two-light casement in a dormer above. A 20th-century bay window sits on the ground floor, and a 20th-century window is located in a section designed to imitate a jettied gable. Inside, most of the original timbers, plaster partitions, and chamfered beams with run-out stops remain. There is also a four-centred, chamfered sandstone fireplace in the attic storey.
