Description
Felthouse and the attached barn, part of Lower Felthouse Farm, is a farmhouse and barn with a core dating back to the 15th century. The building was refaced in the 17th century and altered in the late 19th century. It features coursed squared and dressed stone, a tiled roof with verge parapets, and an L-shaped brick ridge stack positioned to the right of the center of the house. The long, low, two-storey front of the house has a hay loft opening to the left and a three-light casement window in the center of the first floor. On the ground floor, there are three doorways, with the center one flanked by two three-light windows; the left window is set in a deep labelled 17th-century reveal. To the right of the front is a gabled single-storey projection.
The barn, located to the left, has two levels with a hay loft above the byres. It features five slit-vents on the first floor above two small widely spaced windows on the ground floor. The south-west gable of the barn has two 17th-century three-light chamfered mullioned windows. The south-east side of the house has been rebuilt in brickwork, and the barn includes a segmental-headed cart entry against a butt joint to the house, revealing a cruck frame in the cross wall with feet approximately 300mm above ground level.
