Description

Milepost located on Cheadle Road in Cheddleton, probably from the early 20th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape with an inclined head positioned about 700mm above the ground. The front is inscribed with "CHEDDLETON," while the left side lists distances to Wetley Rocks (1 mile), Hilderstone (11 miles), Sandon (14.5 miles), and Stafford (19 miles). The right side indicates distances to Cheddleton (1.5 miles) and Leek (4.5 miles).
