Description

This is a milepost located on Leek Road in Cheddleton, likely dating from the early 20th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape with an inclined head positioned about 700 millimeters above the ground. The front of the milepost is inscribed with "CHEDDLETON," while the left side lists distances to Wetley Rocks (3 miles), Hilderstone (13 miles), Sandon (16 and a half miles), and Stafford (21 miles). The right side indicates that Leek is 2 and a half miles away.
