Description
St Edward's Hospital, Malloy House is a detached house that served as the former Medical Superintendent's residence at St Edward's Hospital, built between 1895 and 1900 by the architects Giles, Gough and Trollope. The building is constructed of faced bricks with red sandstone dressings and features a pitched slated roof with tall brick chimney stacks and gabled dormers. It has two storeys and attics, with the entrance front displaying four windows.
The entrance bay slightly projects and has a sandstone round-arched entrance with a keystone, flanked by pilasters that support an entablature. To the right of the entrance bay is a corresponding bay with a window. Above the entrance, there is a three-light window, and in the large gable, there is a three-light attic window. The right-hand outer bay features canted bay windows that rise to double height, while the other windows are mostly two-light. The left-hand return also has a similar canted bay that extends to double height.
